An interesting game took place in Mayaguez where 6th ranked Capitanes (14-15) were upset on the court of ninth ranked Indios (12-17) 100-89. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Capitanes. The hosts were ahead by 10 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 27-15 run, which allowed them to win the game. Indios shot 65.5 percent from the field. Indios had a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international Devon Collier (203-91, college: Oregon St.) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 8 rebounds. International guard Cliff Duran (191-89, agency: Paris Global Sports) contributed with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Indios' coach Jose Juan Barea used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Coty Clarke (201-92, college: Arkansas, agency: BeoBasket) replied with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) added 24 points and 5 steals in the effort for Capitanes. Four Indios and five Capitanes players scored in double figures. Indios moved-up to eighth place. Defending champion Capitanes keep the sixth position with 15 games lost. Indios' next round opponent will be league's leader Santeros in Coamo and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
