Regular Season Round 14: Bulleen B. - Warrandyte V. 98-51

Date: June 17, 2017
No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Boomers (8-4) crushed 11th ranked Venom (2-12) in Bulleen 98-51 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Boomers. Venom was better in fourth quarter 27-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Venom to just 3 points in second quarter. Boomers forced 20 Venom turnovers and outrebounded them 45-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. American power forward Sarah Boothe (195-90, college: Stanford) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 14 rebounds. Dutch guard Natalie Van-Den-Adel (185-90, college: Colorado St.) contributed with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners. Meg Dargan replied with 11 points and 5 rebounds and Margaret Kershaw added 13 points in the effort for Venom. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite that victory Boomers went down to fifth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Venom keeps the eleventh place with 12 games lost. Boomers will face Sharks (#9) in the next round. Venom will play against Falcons in Mount Waverley and hope to win that game.
