The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Santeros (20-10) in Coamo on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by tenth ranked Caciques (10-19) 76-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Santeros. Santeros were trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 22-16 charge of Caciques, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. International forward William Orozco (201-85, agency: Paris Global Sports) had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Edwin Ubiles (198-86, college: Siena) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) responded with 22 points and 7 rebounds and Egyptian-American center Omar Samhan (211-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Caciques maintains tenth position with 10-19 record. Santeros at the other side still keep top place with ten games lost. Caciques will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santeros will play on the road against Indios in Mayaguez and are hoping to win this game.
