Regular Season Round 8: Metros STGO - Caneros LR 98-93

Date: June 19, 2017
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Santiago. First ranked Metros STGO faced 4th ranked Caneros LR. Host Metros STGO (8-2) defeated guests from La Romana (4-5) 98-93. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Caneros LR. Caneros LR was ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 33-22 third quarter run of Metros STGO. The winners were led by American Robert Glenn (203-89, college: IUPUI) who scored that evening 25 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Adris De-Leon (180-84, college: E.Washington) supported him with 27 points and 6 assists. Five Metros STGO players scored in double figures. Even 25 points by American guard Austin Freeman (194-89, college: Georgetown) did not help to save the game for Caneros LR. His fellow American import Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Caneros LR's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Metros STGO have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-2 record. Caneros LR at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Metros STGO will have a break next round. Caneros LR will play at home against Reales LV (#7) and hope to win that game.
