Regular Season Round 9: Caneros LR - Reales LV 89-87

Important game to mention about took place in La Romana. Fifth ranked Caneros LR (5-5) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 7th ranked Reales LV (3-7) 89-87 on Tuesday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Reales LV won third quarter 27-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Caneros LR players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) stepped up and scored 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) for the winners and Miguel Evangelista (-91) chipped in 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. The best for the losing side was American swingman Ollie Bailey (201-85, college: Oklahoma City) with 25 points and 6 rebounds and Nigerian-American center Augustine Okosun (210-86, college: Kaiser) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Reales LV players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Caneros LR moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Titanes Licey. Reales LV at the other side keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Caneros LR will play against league's second-placed Indios SFM in San Francisco in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Reales LV will play at home against Titanes Licey (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
