Regular Season Round 9: Leones SD - Indios SFM 92-93

The most exciting game of round 9 in the LNB took place in Santo Domingo. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 3rd placed Leones SD (6-5) to second ranked Indios SFM (8-3) 93-92 in the game for the second place. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Leones SD won fourth quarter 29-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Leones SD 44-29 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Indios SFM made 7 blocks. It was a good game for American forward Terrence Shannon (203-79, college: Elgin CC) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Juan-Miguel Suero (198-93) contributed with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American point guard Patrick Miller (185-92, college: Tennessee St.) answered with 24 points and 7 assists and naturalized Spanish center Jhonatan Araujo (208-96, agency: Basket Management Solutions) added 17 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Leones SD. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Indios SFM maintains second place with 8-3 record having just one point less than leader Metros STGO. Leones SD lost fourth consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the third position with five games lost. Indios SFM are looking forward to face Caneros LR (#5) in La Romana in the next round. Leones SD will have a break next round.
