Regular Season Round 37: Fajardo - Mayaguez 67-70

Important game to mention about took place in Fajardo. Eighth ranked Indios (14-18) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging much higher ranked Cariduros (20-12) 70-67 on Thursday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cariduros. Cariduros were ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 19-13 charge of Indios, which allowed them to win the game. American forward David Laury (206-90, college: Iona) nailed a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and international Ramon Clemente (200-85, college: Wichita St.) accounted for 19 points and 7 rebounds. Four Indios players scored in double figures. Indios' coach Jose Juan Barea allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Damion James (201-87, college: Texas) came up with 17 points and 8 rebounds and the former international point guard Filiberto Rivera (189-82, college: UTEP) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively for Cariduros in the defeat. Indios moved-up to seventh place. Cariduros at the other side keep the second position with 12 games lost. Indios will play against higher ranked Atleticos (#6) in San German in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cariduros will play on the road against Gallitos (#10) in Isabela and hope to get back on the winning track.
