Regular Season Round 38: Isabela - Fajardo 73-84

There was no surprise in Isabela where 10th ranked Gallitos (10-22) were defeated by second ranked Cariduros (21-12) 84-73. The game was mostly controlled by Cariduros. Gallitos was better in fourth quarter 25-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cariduros had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Cariduros brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The former international guard Miguel-Ali Berdiel (198-83, college: Valparaiso) notched 22 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and American forward Reginald Buckner (206-91, college: Mississippi) supported him with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Even 17 points and 9 rebounds by American forward Tyler Wilkerson (203-88, college: Marshall) did not help to save the game for Gallitos. His fellow American import point guard Raymond Cintron-Cortes (183-90, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: Paris Global Sports) added 16 points for the hosts. Four Gallitos players scored in double figures. Cariduros maintains second position with 21-12 record having four points less than leader Aguada. Gallitos lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 22 games lost. Cariduros' next round opponent will be Capitanes (#6) in Arecibo. Gallitos will play on the road against Atleticos (#5) in San German and hope to win that game.
