Regular Season Round 13: Reales LV - Caneros LR 95-100

Very significant was Caneros LR's (#6) 100-95 road victory against 4th placed Reales LV. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Reales LV. The guests were already 15 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 27-17 Reales LV's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 100-95 at the end of the game. Caneros LR made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. American Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Austin Freeman (194-89, college: Georgetown) accounted for 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Naturalized American Antonio Pena (204-86, college: Villanova) came up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and guard Juan Coronado (193-83) added 23 points and 6 assists (made all of his eight free throws) respectively for Reales LV in the defeat. Five Caneros LR and four Reales LV players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Caneros LR (7-7) moved-up to fourth place. Reales LV at the other side dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. Caneros LR will play against Titanes Licey (#7) in San Cristobal in the next round. Reales LV will play on the road against Huracanes PP in Puerto Plata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
