Regular Season Round 41: Arecibo - Isabela 92-83

There was no surprise in Arecibo where 10th ranked Gallitos (11-24) were defeated by fifth ranked Capitanes (19-17) 92-83 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-20. But Gallitos won second period 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Capitanes dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Gallitos' 34. They outrebounded Gallitos 40-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. Capitanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Angel Alamo (206-85) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Davon Jefferson (204-86, college: USC) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). American point guard Raymond Cintron-Cortes (183-90, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: Paris Global Sports) produced 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international power forward Manuel De-Jesus (206-83, college: Southeastern CC) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Capitanes and four Gallitos players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Capitanes have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ponce. Gallitos at the other side stay at the bottom position with 24 games lost.
