An interesting game was played in San Cristobal where host Titanes Licey (#7) won against 4th ranked Caneros LR 77-73 on Friday evening. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 21-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Naturalized Spanish power forward Edward Santana (203-80) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) chipped in 19 points during the contest. Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Titanes Licey players scored in double figures. American guard Austin Freeman (194-89, college: Georgetown) responded with 19 points and his fellow American import Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Caneros LR's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Titanes Licey maintains seventh position with 6-10 record. Loser Caneros LR keeps the fourth place with eight games lost. Titanes Licey will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Caneros LR will play against Leones SD (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
