Regular Season Round 14: Soles SD - Leones SD 97-95

The most exciting game of round 14 in the LNB took place in Santo Domingo. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Leones SD (7-9) to eighth ranked Soles SD (3-12) 97-95 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 97-95. Soles SD made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was power forward Manuel Guzman (204-82, college: Bemidji St.) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line !!!). Bahamas guard Michael Carey-Jr (196-93, college: Wagner) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. Soles SD's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Naturalized American MJ Rhett (206-92, college: Mississippi) produced 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Elpidio Fortuna (188-85, agency: Basket Management Solutions) added 25 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Soles SD maintains eighth position with 3-12 record. Defending champion Leones SD dropped to the fifth place with nine games lost. Soles SD are looking forward to face higher ranked Caneros LR (#4) in La Romana in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Leones SD will play on the road against Caneros LR in La Romana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
