Regular Season Round 6: Hunan - Henan 105-121

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Hunan (4-2) against seventh ranked Henan (4-2) on Friday night. Host Hunan was defeated by Henan in Changsha 121-105. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 121-105. Henan dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Hunan's 58. They outrebounded Hunan 51-33 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Henan looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Henan made 9 blocks. American-Nigerian center Chris Otule (211-90, college: Marquette) had a double-double by scoring 30 points, 25 rebounds and 8 blocks (perfect from the field making all fourteen shots !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 41 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four Henan players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Dominican guard Gelvis Solano (185-94, college: Merrimack, agency: Basket Management Solutions) with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 6 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 steals and Jiaxin Peng scored 15 points. Hunan's coach Wenlong Huang rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Henan moved-up to second place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Hunan. Henan will meet Guangxi (#4) on the road in the next round. Hunan will play against Luoyang and hope to secure a win.
