Regular Season Round 19: Ballarat M. - Geelong S. 107-84

Not a big story in a game when 4th placed Geelong Supercats (12-8) were outscored by second ranked Ballarat Miners (12-6) in Wendouree 107-84 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Ballarat Miners. Geelong Supercats was better in third quarter 28-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ballarat Miners looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a very good performance for guard Peter Hooley (193-92, college: Albany) who helped to win the game recording 36 points (!!!) and 8 assists. Forward Craig Moller (206-94, agency: MKP Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international swingman Nathan Herbert (192-84) answered with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Demarcus Gatlin (193, college: Sam Houston St.) added 19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Geelong Supercats. Five Ballarat Miners and four Geelong Supercats players scored in double figures. Geelong Supercats' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Ballarat Miners maintains second place in League with 12-6 record having just seven point less than leader Mackay M. Loser Geelong Supercats keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Ballarat Miners will face Dandenong Rangers (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Geelong Supercats will play against Tigers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
