Regular Season Round 17: Indios SFM - Huracanes PP 86-79

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in San Francisco. Third ranked Indios SFM faced second-ranked Huracanes PP. Host Indios SFM (12-6) defeated guests from Puerto Plata (11-7) 86-79. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Huracanes PP. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Huracanes PP was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Indios SFM forced 19 Huracanes PP turnovers. The best player for the winners was American forward Terrence Shannon (203-79, college: Elgin CC) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Sterling Gibbs (188-92, college: Connecticut, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 23 points and 6 assists. Four Indios SFM players scored in double figures. Indios SFM's coach David Diaz used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Aaron Jones (206-93, college: Mississippi) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds and naturalized American guard Maurice Carter (183-83, college: Robert Morris) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Indios SFM moved-up to second place. Huracanes PP at the other side dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Indios SFM are looking forward to face Reales LV (#6) in La Vega in the next round. Huracanes PP will play at home against the league's leader Metros STGO and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
