Rather predictable result in Kalamunda where tenth ranked Lightning (10-15) defeated 13th ranked Suns (6-19) 114-100 on Friday. The guests trailed by 13 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 14 points. Lightning made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Lightning outrebounded Suns 45-30 including a 37-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Lightning especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.3 percentage. Suns were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward James Padgett (203-91, college: Maryland) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Corey Shervill (197) who added 34 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds during the contest. American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) responded with 36 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 8 assists and his fellow American import guard Rob Brandenberg (188-92, college: VCU) scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Lightning moved-up to ninth place in League. Loser Suns keep the thirteenth position with 19 games lost. Lightning will face higher ranked Hawks (#8) in Floreat in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Suns will play on the road against Flames (#10) in Rockingham and hope to win that game.
