Arecibo defeated visiting Aguada to open win count in the series. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 54-41 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Capitanes made 7 blocks. The former international swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 6 rebounds. Naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) contributed with 18 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Capitanes players scored in double figures. The former international forward Gilberto Clavell (200-89, college: Sam Houston St., agency: Inception Sports) replied with 20 points and 5 rebounds and American swingman Lamar Patterson (196-91, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Pensack Sports) added 14 points in the effort for Santeros. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
