Regular Season Round 20: Bendigo B. - Sandringham S. 82-92

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Sabres (9-10) beat on the road one of their biggest challengers Bendigo Braves (9-12) 92-82 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Sabres. Bendigo Braves was better in third quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Bendigo Braves outrebounded Sabres 41-26 including a 32-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jerry Evans (203-90, college: Nevada) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Ethan O'Day (206, college: Vermont) who added 13 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. American power forward C.J. Aiken (206-90, college: St.Joseph's) responded with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Adam Doyle (176-91) scored 25 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Five Sabres and four Bendigo Braves players scored in double figures. Sabres moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Bendigo Braves dropped to the fifth position with 12 games lost. Sabres will face BA CoE (#8) in the next round. Bendigo Braves will play against the league's second-placed Ballarat Miners and hope to win that game.
