Second Stage Round 2: Caneros LR - Leones SD 82-107

An interesting game for Leones SD (1-2) which played road game in La Romana against Caneros LR (1-2). Leones SD had an easy win 107-82. The game was mostly controlled by Leones SD. Caneros LR managed to win third quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Caneros LR 49-35 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Leones SD looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Caneros LR's players. Naturalized American MJ Rhett (206-92, college: Mississippi) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and American swingman Omar Reed (200-87, college: Bluefield, agency: Haylett Sports) supported him with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Even 14 points and 9 rebounds by American Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) did not help to save the game for Caneros LR. Swingman Andy Williams (195-80, agency: Court Side) added 15 points for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Leones SD will meet Titanes Licey in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Caneros LR will play against Titanes Licey in San Cristobal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
