Second Stage Round 3: Titanes Licey - Caneros LR 92-99

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Titanes Licey (2-2) in San Cristobal on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by Caneros LR (2-2) 99-92. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 99-92. Strangely Titanes Licey outrebounded Caneros LR 40-26 including 18 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for American guard Austin Freeman (194-89, college: Georgetown) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) helped adding 21 points. Caneros LR's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American center Brian Williams (208-87, college: Tennessee) with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and American-Hungarian forward Rashad Bell (203-82, college: Boston U.) scored 24 points. Five Caneros LR and four Titanes Licey players scored in double figures. Caneros LR is looking forward to face Leones SD in Santo Domingo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Titanes Licey will play on the road against Leones SD in Santo Domingo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
