Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Brisbane: Brisbane Spartans (#1) and Capitals (#7). Capitals were defeated at home 72-86 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Brisbane Spartans outrebounded Capitals 48-35 including 17 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Rebecca Haynes (188-84, college: Jacksonville St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 20 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Ashleigh Karaitiana (183-92, college: Hawaii) who added 24 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Brisbane Spartans players scored in double figures. American guard Dlesha Lloyd (179-86, college: Clemson) responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds and guard Amy Lewis (175-86, college: Troy) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Brisbane Spartans maintains first position in League with 17-0 record. Loser Capitals dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. Brisbane Spartans will face Pirates (#7) in Runcorn in the next round where they are favorite. Capitals will play against SC Rip and hope to win that game.
