Regular Season Round 5: Importadora - Piratas 76-78

The most exciting game of round 5 in the National League took place in Ambato. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 3rd placed Importadora (2-2) to fourth ranked Piratas (3-2) 78-76 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Importadora. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Ashton Pitts (201-88, college: So.Poly State) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international center Carlos Delgado (202-90) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Venezuelan forward Jhon Romero (199-85) answered with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Tavares Sledge (203-92, college: USC Aiken, agency: Interperformances) added 23 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Importadora. Piratas moved-up to third place, which they share with Leones. Importadora at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Barcelona. Piratas is looking forward to face league's leader Iccan in Guayaquil in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Importadora will play at home against Barcelona (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
