Regular Season Round 11: Piratas - Portoviejo 94-76

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Piratas (7-4) beat 7th ranked Portoviejo (4-6) in Ibarra 94-76 on Friday. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Portoviejo's players. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Willie Clayton (203-92, college: Georgia St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Center Jose-Luis Mejia (200-88) accounted for 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Piratas' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Adriano Barredas (-92) came up with 29 points and international guard Jonathan Arboleda (190-95) added 17 points respectively for Portoviejo in the defeat. Piratas have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Portoviejo lost fourth consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Piratas will meet at home Importadora (#4) in the next round. Portoviejo will play against Barcelona and hope to secure a win.
