Uruguay overcame Dominican Republic to gain 1-0 record in Group C. Jayson Granger sank 23 points, issued 8 assists and added 5 rebounds in the victory. Uruguay jumped to a 23:7 lead ten minutes into the game. Dominican Republic bounced back with a 25:9 run in the second term to knot things up at 32. But Uruguay picked up the tempo in the second half. They held their opponents to just 25 points in the second half and raced to the victory. Esteban Batista had 17 points and 9 boards for Uruguay. Edward Santana notched 15 points for Dominican Republic.
