Regular Season Round 23: Canarios - Isidro Metapan 88-98

There was a minor upset in Ahuachapan where 4th placed Canarios (11-6) were defeated by sixth ranked Isidro Metapan (11-6) 98-88. Canarios were ahead by 10 points after three quarters before a 38-18 charge of Isidro Metapan, which allowed them to win the game. They made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Isidro Metapan outrebounded Canarios 52-39 including 21 on the offensive glass. American center Slim Magee (211-89, college: Missouri So.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 24 rebounds. Venezuelan forward Elder Gimenez (186-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American forward Eddie Ishman (196, college: Miles) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks and the other American import point guard David Lawson (185-89, college: Reinhardt) added 28 points and 9 assists in the effort for Canarios. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Isidro Metapan. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Canarios and Brujos Izalco. Isidro Metapan will play against league's second-placed Halcones in Sonzacate in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Canarios will have a break next round.
