Quarter-Finals Round 3: Piratas - Juvenil 99-70

Piratas cruised past Juvenil to secure the semifinal birth. The game was mostly controlled by Piratas. Juvenil was better in fourth quarter 28-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Piratas dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Juvenil's 30. They outrebounded Juvenil 42-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. Piratas players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was a quality performance for Puerto Rican-Venezuelan swingman Rafael Perez (193-82, agency: Paris Global Sports) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Willie Clayton (203-92, college: Georgia St.) accounted for 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Five Piratas players scored in double figures. Piratas' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Venezuelan guard Jovanni Diaz (195-92) came up with 38 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and Venezuelan Nelson Palacios (192-92) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Juvenil in the defeat.
