Regular Season Round 4: Melsele - Neufchateau 71-82

There was a minor upset when one of their biggest challengers Melsele (2-2) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Neufchateau (2-2) 82-71 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 30-11 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Melsele outrebounded Neufchateau 45-21 including a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard Alexis Pierre (178-92) fired 16 points and 4 steals (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Center Arnaud Piette (206-86) chipped in 16 points. Four Neufchateau players scored in double figures. Dutch power forward Patrick Hilliman (206-82, college: High Point) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Ivan Perez (185-90) added 22 points respectively for lost side. Neufchateau moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Melsele and Ninane. Neufchateau will meet at home league's leader Soba in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Melsele will play against Oxaco (#5) in Boechout and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
