There was no surprise in Ahuachapan where 7th ranked Santa Ana (11-10) was defeated by fifth ranked Canarios (13-6) 84-74 on Saturday. Canarios dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana's 36. They outrebounded Santa Ana 53-38 including 38 on the defensive glass. Canarios looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Canarios made 10 blocks. The best player for the winners was American forward Eddie Ishman (196, college: Miles) who had a double-double by scoring 32 points and 16 rebounds. His fellow American import center Marc Montavious (206-90, college: Georgetown, KY) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points, 23 rebounds, 6 assists and 9 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was Venezuelan-Colombian forward Michael Hinestroza-Javes (208-90, college: UALR) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and American forward Tobias Dowdell (201-90, college: Alders.-Broad.) added 15 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Four Santa Ana players scored in double figures. Canarios maintains fifth place with 13-6 record. Loser Santa Ana keeps the seventh position with ten games lost.
