Regular Season Round 1: Psychiko - Amyntas Dafnis 50-38

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Psychiko and Amyntas Dafnis (#0). Psychiko (1-0) won against visiting Amyntas Dafnis (0-1) 50-38. The game was mostly controlled by Psychiko. Amyntas Dafnis managed to win second period 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Amyntas Dafnis to just 5 points in third quarter and to 11 points in second half. Psychiko held Amyntas Dafnis to an opponent 16.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 31.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Center Nikos Tsiokos (207-91) nailed 9 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Thomas Nikou (185-80) accounted for 5 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Leonidas Zoupas (182-82) came up with 7 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and forward Spyros Diamantopoulos (197-83) added 11 points respectively for Amyntas Dafnis in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Psychiko's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Peristeri GS.
