Regular Season Round 1: Academic Sofia - Rilski 95-75

Lukoil Acad. used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Samokov 95-75. The game was mostly controlled by Lukoil Acad.. Rilski was better in fourth quarter 29-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lukoil Acad. shot 63.8 percent from the field. Lukoil Acad. outrebounded Rilski 34-18 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Rilski's players. It was a very good performance for American power forward Keith Clanton (205-90, college: Cent.Florida) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). His fellow American import Dalton Pepper (196-90, college: Temple) contributed with 19 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. American point guard Derek Wright (179-86, college: Austin Peay St.) answered with 18 points and the former international guard Zlatin Georgiev (197-85) added 12 points in the effort for Rilski. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lukoil Acad. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rilski will play at home against Cherno More (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
