Regular Season Round 6: Al-Manama - Al-Ittihad 106-70

The game between closely ranked teams ended with top-ranked Al-Manama's (4-0) home victory over 5th ranked Al-Ittihad (3-3) 106-70 on Tuesday. Al-Manama dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Al-Ittihad's 34. Al-Manama forced 21 Al-Ittihad turnovers and outrebounded them 47-25 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Al-Ittihad's players. It was a good game for American Wayne Chism (206-87, college: Tennessee) who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 9 rebounds. Mohammed Ameer contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Al-Manama players scored in double figures. American forward Antwan Wilkerson (201-91, college: Johnson C. Smith) replied with 26 points and 7 rebounds and Sayed-Mohd Hameed added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Al-Ittihad. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Al-Manama have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains fourth position with 4-0 record. Loser Al-Ittihad dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. Al-Manama will face Sitra (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Al-Ittihad will play against the league's leader Al-Ahli and hope to win that game.
