Regular Season Round 5: Haneda Vickies - Niigata R. 83-69

Haneda Vickies has registered their first victory this season after four consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Niigata R. (0-5) 83-69 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Haneda Vickies. Niigata R. was better in second period 26-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Haneda Vickies looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Power forward Yumi Hiromi (180-90) stepped up and scored 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and guard Nanoko Motohashi (164-93) chipped in 13 points and 9 assists. Haneda Vickies' coach Koju Munakata used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Power forward Umeki Chikako (175-90) responded with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Anka Ohama (180-92) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Haneda Vickies (1-4) left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with Aishin AW and Toyota B SR. It was Niigata R.'s fifth loss in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Haneda Vickies' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Niigata R..
