Regular Season Round 3: Trabzonspor - Istanbul BBSK 111-93

There was a minor upset when Istanbul BBSK (1-2) was defeated on the road by Trabzonspor (1-2) 111-93 on Saturday. Trabzonspor shot 66.1 percent from the field and made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Istanbul BBSK was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Canadian Brady Heslip (191-90, college: Baylor) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Lithuanian point guard Sarunas Vasiliauskas (188-89, agency: Players Group) helped adding 21 points and 10 assists. The best for the losing side was Serbian power forward Stefan Bircevic (210-89) with 23 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Michael Thompson (177-89, college: Northwestern) scored 15 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Trabzonspor will face Banvit (#8) in Balikesir in the next round.
