Regular Season Round 7: Yamagata - Gunma 78-75

B League D2 round 7 caused change at the leadership position. Third defeat of Gunma (4-3) against fourth ranked Yamagata (3-4) 78-75 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Gunma. The hosts trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 27-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Billy McShepard (208-87, college: Valdosta St., agency: Blacktop Management) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 7 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) contributed with 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Yamagata players scored in double figures. Center Ryan Stephan (208-94, college: Colorado Mesa) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds and forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) added 15 points in the effort for Gunma. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Yamagata moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Gunma at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with Hiroshima D. and Kanazawa Sam.. They were replaced at the leadership position by Shinshu BW. Gunma will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Yamagata will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Gunma at home.
