Regular Season Round 5: RAC Basket - Lorient 72-76

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Lorient (3-2) defeated on the road 7th ranked Rueil (3-2) 76-72 on Saturday. Lorient had a 36-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Jared Newson (196-84, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Inception Sports) stepped up and scored 31 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners and Lithuanian center Dominykas Milka (203-92, college: St.Rose, NY) chipped in 9 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Karim Gourari (204-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and point guard Jeremy Bichard (186-90) scored 17 points and 8 assists. Four Rueil players scored in double figures. Lorient moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 6 other teams including defeated Rueil. Lorient will face league's second-placed Saint Vallier at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rueil will play against Aubenas and hope to win that game.
