Rather expected game when 9th ranked UCAM Murcia (2-3) was edged at home by seventh ranked Valencia Basket (4-1) 93-91 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-12. But UCAM Murcia won second period 32-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valencia Basket made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Valencia Basket especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. UCAM Murcia was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Montenegrin power forward Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: BeoBasket) stepped up and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and German center Tibor Pleiss (217-89) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Valencia Basket's coach Jesus Vidorreta used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Brazilian Vitor Benite (194-90, agency: Interperformances) responded with 29 points and guard Alex Urtasun (193-84) scored 17 points. Five Valencia Basket and four UCAM Murcia players scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser UCAM Murcia dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. Valencia Basket will face Gran Canaria (#5) in Las Palmas in the next round. UCAM Murcia will play on the road against FC Barcelona (#4) and hope to win that game.
