There was no surprise when 5th ranked Rapido (2-2) was defeated on the road by second ranked Santa Tecla BC (5-1) 72-59 on Sunday. Santa Tecla BC held Rapido to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 35.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Cuban forward Leidis Oquendo (180-82, agency: Pro Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Cuban point guard Arlenis Romero (176-84) chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. American guard Shaquilla Curtis (175, college: American) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 23 rebounds and Taimy Martinez added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Santa Tecla BC maintains second position with 5-1 record behind leader San Salvador. Newly promoted Rapido dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. Santa Tecla BC will face Santiago de Maria (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Rapido will play against Santiago de Maria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
