Regular Season Round 1: Tartu Ulikool - BK Ogre 70-64

An interesting game took place in Tartu where Latvian BK Ogre (0-1) was upset on the court of Estonian Tartu Ulikool (1-0) 70-64. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But BK Ogre won third quarter 16-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded BK Ogre 45-28 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tartu Ulikool players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by BK Ogre's players. 25 personal fouls committed by BK Ogre helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Steven Cook (196-94, college: Princeton) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Swedish center Carl Engstrom (216-91, college: Alabama) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Tartu Ulikool's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Janis Antrops (193-91) answered with 15 points and forward Janis Poznaks (203-83) added 8 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for BK Ogre. Tartu Ulikool's next round opponent will be Barsy Atyrau (#11) at home and are hoping to win another game. BK Ogre will play against P.Zvaigzdes and hope to win that game.
