Regular Season Round 9: Bambitious Nara - Ehime OV 91-92

Sixth-ranked Bambitious Nara (1-8) made lots of trouble for second ranked Orange Vikings (7-2) on Wednesday. The visitors from Matsuyama managed to secure only one-point victory 92-91. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Bambitious Nara outrebounded Orange Vikings 43-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and Toshino Yoshihiko (186-92) chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was South African center Tshilidzi Nephawe (208-89, college: N.Mexico St.) with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds and forward Junpei Honda (190-88) scored 17 points. Five Orange Vikings and four Bambitious Nara players scored in double figures. Orange Vikings have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 7-2 record behind leader Gunma, which they share with Fukushima. Bambitious Nara lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with Aomori Watts. Orange Vikings will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Bambitious Nara will play against Kagawa FA (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
