Regular Season Round 7: Sitra - Al-Manama 50-78

Very expected game when 9th ranked Sitra (2-4) was smashed at home by leader Al-Manama (5-0) 78-50 on Wednesday. Al-Manama dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Sitra's 30. Al-Manama forced 22 Sitra turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Sitra's players. It was an exceptional evening for Mohammed Ameer who led the winners and scored 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). The former international forward Mohammed Qurban (187-87) accounted for 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Al-Manama's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nigerian-American center Augustine Okosun (210-86, college: Kaiser) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 19 rebounds and Nasser Almosawi added 18 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Sitra in the defeat. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Al-Manama. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Loser Sitra keeps the ninth position with four games lost. Al-Manama's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Manama Al-Najma.
