Regular Season Round 4: Academic Sofia - Cherno More 131-68

Bottom-ranked Cherno More (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 131-68 loss to sixth ranked Lukoil Acad. (2-1) in Sofia on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Lukoil Acad. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Cherno More's 28. Lukoil Acad. forced 24 Cherno More turnovers and outrebounded them 34-20 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Cherno More's players. Worth to mention a great performance of international swingman Nikolay Stoyanov (195-94) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and American power forward Keith Clanton (205-90, college: Cent.Florida) who added 18 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) during the contest. Four Lukoil Acad. players scored in double figures. Lukoil Acad.'s coach Sharon Drucker felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side naturalized Portuguese swingman Venelin Hristov (198-95) responded with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and forward Kristiyan Krastev (200-97) scored 19 points. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Loser Cherno More still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Spartak Pleven. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
