Regular Season Round 4: Rilski - Spartak Pleven 84-54
Date: October 28, 2017
Bottom-ranked Spartak Pleven (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 84-54 loss to sixth ranked Rilski (2-2) in Samokov. The game without a history. Rilski led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak Pleven's 28. Rilski forced 21 Spartak Pleven turnovers. The winners were led by the former international guard Zlatin Georgiev (197-85) who scored that evening 16 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Samuel Francis (192-92, college: St.Joseph, IN) supported him with 16 points. Four Rilski players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Cedrick Bowen (198-92, college: Charleston So.) did not help to save the game for Spartak Pleven. Forward Konstantin Koev (196-91) added 10 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rilski moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Levski 2014. Spartak Pleven at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Rilski's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Beroe in Stara Zagora and it may be quite challenging game. Spartak Pleven will play at home against the league's leader Balkan (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
