Regular Season Round 7: Recklinghausen - Salzkotten 90-67

Date: October 28, 2017
Rather expected game when 8th ranked Salzkotten (3-5) was smashed on the road by sixth ranked Recklinghausen (5-3) 90-67 on Saturday. Recklinghausen forced 32 Salzkotten turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Quite impressive performance for Philipp Spettmann (200-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Canadian-Polish forward Konrad Tota (196-80, college: Dickinson St.) contributed with 13 points, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Five Recklinghausen players scored in double figures. Swingman Felix Wenningkamp (195-88) answered with 15 points and point guard Fritz Hemschemeier (182-98) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Salzkotten. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Recklinghausen moved-up to fifth place in West, which they share with Duesseldorf and Herford. Loser Salzkotten keeps the eighth position with five games lost. Recklinghausen will face Bonn II (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Salzkotten will play against Ibbenbueren (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
