Regular Season Round 4: Hapoel J-M - Maccabi Ashdod 74-86
Date: October 29, 2017
The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Hapoel Jerusalem (3-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by twelfth ranked Maccabi Ashdod (2-2) 86-74. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Hapoel Jerusalem. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Ashdod. Hapoel Jerusalem managed to win second period 24-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Ashdod forced 20 Hapoel Jerusalem turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Maccabi Ashdod especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward David Laury (206-90, college: Iona) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and American-Jamaican guard Sek Henry (193-87, college: Nebraska) who added 26 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side American forward Austin Daye (211-88, college: Gonzaga, agency: Alti Sport) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Bar Timor (190-92, agency: Avi Zilberman) scored 16 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hapoel Jerusalem's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Maccabi Ashdod moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hapoel T-A and Hapoel Holon. Defending champion Hapoel Jerusalem dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with Maccabi Rishon and Ironi Nahariya. Maccabi Ashdod is looking forward to face Ironi Nes-Ziona (#11) in Nes Ziyona in the next round where they are favorite. Hapoel Jerusalem will play on the road against Hapoel Eilat (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
