Regular Season Round 8: Al-Manama - Al-Najma 83-71

Rather predictable result when top-ranked Al-Manama (6-0) defeated at home 6th ranked Al-Najma (3-4) 83-71 on Thursday. Al-Manama dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Al-Najma's 16. Al-Manama forced 22 Al-Najma turnovers. The best player for the winners was American Wayne Chism (206-87, college: Tennessee) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 23 rebounds and 4 assists. International forward Hassan Nawrooz chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Five Al-Manama players scored in double figures. American forward Haminn Quaintance (203-85, college: Kent St.) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists and Mohammed Bullay added 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Al-Manama have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 6-0 record behind leader Al-Ahli. Al-Najma at the other side dropped to the seventh place with four games lost. They share the position with Al-Riffa and Sitra. Al-Manama will meet at home Al-Hala (#5) in the next round. Al-Najma will play against Al-Riffa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
