Regular Season Round 5: Illiabum - Electrico FC 87-91

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Illiabum (4-3) against tenth ranked Electrico FC (3-3) on Saturday night. Host Illiabum was defeated by Electrico FC in a tough game in Ilhavo 87-91. It looked good early as Illiabum took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Electrico FC had a 25-10 second period charge getting the lead and Illiabum was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 87-91. Electrico FC forced 19 Illiabum turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Electrico FC especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 69.2 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was a good game for Cape Verdean forward Kevin Coronel (197-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. American center Jamal Hunter (203-93, college: Jacksonville St.) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Electrico FC players scored in double figures. American guard Jeff Early (190-88, college: S.Illinois) replied with 26 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Ronnie Boggs (192-91, college: Jacksonville St.) added 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Illiabum. Illiabum's coach Pedro Nuno Monteiro tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Electrico FC have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with CAB Madeira. Illiabum at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with FC Porto and Terceira. Electrico FC will play against higher ranked Vitoria SC (#6) in Guimaraes in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Illiabum will play on the road against Barreirense in Barreiro and hopes to get back on the winning track.
