Regular Season Round 6: Santiago de Maria - Halcones 55-57

Seventh ranked Halcones (1-7) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Santiago de Maria (4-3) 57-55 on Saturday evening. Halcones outrebounded Santiago de Maria 63-45 including a 42-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. American center Wende Foster (196, college: Livingstone, agency: Gamble Sports Management) had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 23 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Tracey Parsons (170, college: Cent.Arkansas) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Halcones' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American swingman Karen Bivens-Flagg (183-92, college: Youngstown St.) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 19 rebounds and Canadian guard Faatimah A (163-91, college: Ryerson) scored 27 points and 7 rebounds. Newly promoted Halcones maintains seventh position with 1-7 record. Santiago de Maria at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. Halcones will play against higher ranked Rapido (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Santiago de Maria will play against Guatemala and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
