Regular Season Round 13: Gunma - Tokyo Z 90-82

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Gunma as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Gunma defeated 6th ranked Tokyo Z at home 90-82. Gunma made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) fired 35 points (!!!) and 4 assists for the winners. Point guard Masashi Obuchi (182-83) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Gunma players scored in double figures. Guard Tatsuya Nishiyama (171-88) produced 19 points and 8 assists and Latvian center Ricmonds Vilde (211-90, college: Houston Baptist) added 12 points and 14 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Shinshu BW and Kumamoto V. Tokyo Z lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Yamagata. Tokyo Z will play next round against strong Kanazawa Sam. trying to get back on the winning streak. Gunma will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Kumamoto V. on the road.
