Regular Season Round 4: Shanghai S. - Shanxi BD 128-121

There was a minor upset in Shanghai where higher ranked Brave Dragons (2-2) were defeated by fourteenth ranked Sharks (2-2) 128-121 on Sunday. Sharks made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Brave Dragons outrebounded Sharks 52-37 including 21 on the offensive glass. American point guard Jimmer Fredette (188-89, college: BYU) fired 47 points (!!!) and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. The other American import Nick Minnerath (207-88, college: Detroit Mercy) chipped in 31 points and 9 rebounds. Sharks' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Argentinian-Spanish power forward Luis Scola (206-80) produced a double-double by scoring 32 points and 17 rebounds and American point guard Brandon Jennings (185-89) added 23 points and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sharks moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 7 other teams including defeated Brave Dragons. Sharks will face bottom-ranked Blue Whales (#20) in Sichuan in the next round which should be an easy win for them.
