Regular Season Round 6: Rapido - San Salvador 84-93

An interesting game for San Salvador (7-1) which played road game in against 4th ranked Rapido (2-4). Second ranked San Salvador managed to get a 9-point victory 93-84. San Salvador dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Rapido's 42. San Salvador had a 36-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Rapido's players. The best player for the winners was Cuban Suchitel Avila (184-82) who had a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Aquillin Hayes (173, college: New Haven) chipped in a double-double by scoring 31 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Hayes is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. San Salvador's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Shaquilla Curtis (175, college: American) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists and Taimy Martinez added 39 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds respectively. San Salvador keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Santa Tecla BC. Newly promoted Rapido keeps the fourth place with four games lost. San Salvador's next round opponent will be Santiago de Maria (#3), which may be the game of the day. Rapido will play against Halcones and hope to win that game.
